Career
Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu began his career in this sport. As a novice skater, he made her national debut in the 2004–05 season.
He participated in the Novice B division at the 2004 Japan Novice Championships and won the gold medal. His practice time was limited because his rink had to close due to financial concerns.
When Shichir Tsuzuki was moved to a different rink, Nanami Abe took over as his coach. She remained in that role until 2012, when he went to Brian Orser.
In the Novice A division, he won the bronze medal at the 2006 Japan Novice Championships.
